The Maritime Deck Rug uses a denser, tighter weave of New Zealand wool than our indoor lines specifically so the fiber sits closer together, giving rain and moisture less room to sit deep in the pile and letting it air-dry faster after a damp morning. The jute fiber backing gives the rug enough weight to stay put under a patio table even on breezy days, and cotton warp threads keep the tight weave from loosening as it goes through repeated wet-dry cycles across a season. We chose plant-based dyes for this line because they are set deep into the wool fiber, which helps the color hold its tone through regular outdoor sun exposure better than a rug where the dye only sits on the surface. It is a rug meant for a covered porch or patio, made to be lived on, not just looked at.
